Guy Marshall Furniture Restoration specialises in the repair, restoration and conservation of antique furniture and clock cases.
Located in North Shropshire between Shrewsbury and Whitchurch, close to the A49, Guy has a fully equipped restoration workshop in a beautiful timber-framed barn. With over 25 years’ antique restoration experience Guy employs traditional restoration techniques and materials to sympathetically restore furniture and clock cases, conserving the historical integrity of the pieces and preserving original patination.
Guy is highly qualified with an advanced level City and Guilds in furniture making and a BA. (Hons) degree in furniture restoration and conservation, as well as having plenty of experience working for both private and trade customers.
Guy’s level of skill and historical knowledge is motivated by a deep love for antique furniture, especially that of the Eighteenth Century, but equally enjoys working on pieces from any period.
A passion for antiques and an appreciation of their charm makes it easy for Guy to understand the sentimental value people attach to such objects. So clients can be assured that much-loved or inherited pieces will be in safe hands.
Guy is ready to carry out any work from minor repairs to major restoration jobs. While wherever possible retaining the original finish he can also re-finish where necessary using oil, wax or shellac.
Guy has good working relationships with other local restoration specialists, such as, upholsterers and clock restorers.
Callers are always welcome at the farm to see the sort of work carried out in the friendly atmosphere of the farm, which is the home of the world-renowned Appleby’s Cheese. But Guy will happily call round for a home visit to give free quotes. Where the removal of objects is inconvenient Guy is also able to carry out work in the customer’s home with the minimum of fuss.
